Could I Be Pregnant??
Hi my name is Kayla and my husband Gary and I have been trying to make a baby for the past year and a-half.
Now(Nov.30,2010) two weeks before my period is supposed to start(its supposed to start Dec.13,2010) I'm getting light bleeding yesterday with brown in it and a little more blood today with more brown in it. So for two days I have had light bleeding the first day and bleeding/cramping the second day. Am I pregnant or what???
I was reading on some websites and I was maybe thinking it was implantation bleeding because my period was on Nov.13 and it was only 3 days long and a lot lighter than any other past periods. Now this period started Nov.30 and its been three days and I'm not bleeding as heavily as I would normally be.
My skin around my nipples is a lot darker than ever! My backaches are random in the day sometimes, and also I'm having more headaches(I didn't have one today). Do you think I might be pregnant??
Hi Kayla, thank you for your question and description of your symptoms.
If you haven't already, take a look at my page which talks about the first signs of pregnancy.
If you have already you will likely have noticed that a lot of what you describe can indeed be linked to symptoms of early pregnancy. However, it is important to realise as well that these signs don't necessarily mean that you are pregnant.
This time that you are in now, referred to as the 'two week wait' is almost excruciating because you just want to know for sure if you are pregnant or not, so I totally understand your desire to make sense of your symptoms.
I have looked at the dates you have mentioned, and it seems like what you describe could be implanation bleeding. Implantation usually occurs 6 - 10 days after ovulation, but for some women it can occur a few days before that or a few days after.
If you ovulated around day 14 of your cycle, that would mean you ovulated around 27th November, but you could have ovulated a bit before this, and so implantation could be an explanation for the light bleeding you are experiencing.
Also, the darkening of your nipples is a key sign of early pregnancy.
Unfortunately, at this stage, it is impossible to know for sure. But you haven't got long before you can take a test and find out. Some early response tests you can buy will pick up the HCG levels in your urine a few days before your period is due.
In the meantime, keep an eye on the bleeding, if it turns into a full blown period then it is less likely that you are pregnant (although still not to be completely ruled out until a test is taken). Look out for any more symptoms that might give you an indication, and keep positive.
I wish you all the best with your plans to start a family and hope you get the result you want really soon.
