Can constipation stop you from seeing your baby on the first scan?
Hi, thanks for you question.
Although I am no expert in ultrasound scanning, I believe its safe to say that constipation will not stop you from seeing your baby.
Your womb is further forward in your abdomen than your colon, and when you have an ultrasound scan, the image that you get is created using the pattern of sound waves bouncing off your baby. Even if you are constipated, I don't think there is any way that this would obstruct the path of the sound waves to your baby during an ultrasound scan, because any build up of faeces would be out of the way of your womb and therefore not picked up on the scan.
I hope this is helpful.
All the best
