29 Weeks Pregnant

Your Baby

Your baby’s rapid growth means that by 29 weeks pregnant he/she is filling all the space in your uterus. Baby’s hair is growing too and he/she has eyebrows and eyelashes.

Your baby’s eyes open and close and the eyes are even beginning to focus. Your baby’s movements will be very strong now, although there is less room for baby to move around.

Weight growth is still rapid and baby is about 37cm long and weighs about 2 and a quarter pounds.

At 29 weeks you may be able to feel your baby’s bottom and feet as he/she wriggles around. Your uterus will be starting to put pressure on your diaphragm and stomach, which can make you breathless and able to eat less before feeling full.

Now that your baby’s kicks are so noticeable it’s nice to let your partner feel them as often as possible to help him to feel a bond with the baby.

You may notice your breasts growing bigger and perhaps producing colostrum, which is the fluid that comes before the milk is produced. If they leak you can wear breast pads in your bra. Make sure that you are wearing the correct size maternity bra so that you breasts get the right support.

If you wear contact lenses, you may find that you can no longer do so as the moisture in your eyes alters.

My Second Pregnancy Diary - Week 29

One of my best bits about this pregnancy is feeling my baby move. She seems to like moving a lot, especially when I’m eating or drinking. Now i'm 29 weeks pregnant her limbs are getting quite strong and seem to be all over the place at the moment. Sometimes I’m woken up in the early hours, but I don’t mind because I like feeling her.

I’m starting to need to get up to use the toilet in the night a bit more now. Some nights I can manage to go through, but others I have to get up, only the once though.

My tummy is starting to look more stretched. I still don’t have a dark line down the middle, but I’ve started to notice a few stretch marks coming. I’ve not been very good at putting my tummy cream on this time, but I’ve started doing it now. I put some Palmer’s Cocoa Butter on my breasts, tummy and thighs in the morning, and then a body shop moisturizer at night if I can get around to it.

My face gets very red, like I have blood vessels very close to the skin and I’m starting to get hot flushes on and off. I’m finding I have to wear more makeup on my skin than usual to try to cover up the redness and flushing.

Freddy has been doing poos on his potty, which is very good. He’s not ready to fully potty train yet, but he’s starting to get the hang of it a little bit.

I’m glad I’m 29 weeks pregnant and almost at week 30. The weeks are flying by though.
