11 Weeks Pregnant

Your Baby

At 11 weeks pregnant your baby very well developed, with most of the major organs present and being pumped with blood. Baby’s external genitals have formed and also testicles or ovaries depending on the gender.

By the end of this week the baby will be past the most vulnerable time and will be fairly safe from any congenital abnormalities and infections, apart from rubella.

Baby’s 32 tooth buds have formed in the mouth and he or she is able to suck using the muscles that will be needed later for breathing.

Your baby is about 5.5cm or just over 2 inches long and weighs about half an ounce.

Good news! By the time you reach 11 weeks you may find your sickness will start to ease off a bit and you will feel less tired. You will notice a definite increase in your weight and size of your tummy.

You will likely need to go the loo more regularly, but make sure you still drink plenty of water.

You will no doubt be getting pretty excited as your first ultrasound scan appointment nears. Make sure you read up on what to expect if you haven’t been to one before so that you can enjoy it to the full. Not long until you see your baby for the first time!

It’s a good idea to start thinking about where you might want to have your baby and talking to your midwife about it.

My Second Pregnancy Diary - Week 11

Very similar to last week, at 11 weeks pregnant I’m still feeling really very ill and so I make a doctors appointment to see if there is anything they can do for me.

The doctor is very nice, but just prescribes me some Gaviscon and says that if I don’t improve then I should go back and see my GP.

I feel sad for Freddy because I am being such a useless, boring mummy at the moment. I literally do not have the energy to take him out or play with him much. I think he senses I’m not well and is playing up a bit and being a bit naughtier than usual.

I feel like I haven’t been out for ages and I’m wondering when I might start to feel an improvement, I hope I do soon.
