34 Weeks Pregnant

Your Baby

When you are 34 Weeks Pregnant it’s amazing to think of the miniature person inside of you with fully formed eyelashes and eyebrows, blinking eyes and possible a full head of hair!

If you are having a boy, his testicles will have descended into the groin by now.

It’s getting a bit tight for space in there, so baby’s movements are a bit more restricted, and he/she may already be settling into the head down position, ready for labour.

Baby’s growth is steady and he/she should be around 43cm long and weigh about 4 and a half pounds.

Yourself

Well, you are likely coping with swollen feet and ankles, lower backache, shortness of breath, heartburn, to name a few of the joys of pregnancy!

You may have slightly high blood pressure and, if so, will be told to take things easy as much as possible.

It’s a good idea to start thinking about packing your hospital bag, just so that you are prepared for an early arrival. You may want to buy some nightwear that is suitable for breastfeeding, and perhaps hire a TENS machine for the first stages labour. Only 6 weeks to go!

My Second Pregnancy Diary - Week 34

At 34 weeks pregnant I feel like I’ve hit a milestone this week, with only 6 weeks to go. People keep saying 6 weeks is ages, but I think it will go very quickly. I’m trying to think along the lines of what I need to pack in my hospital bag, but that stresses me out because there seems to be so much to remember.

I’ve started washing all the baby clothes and bits that I will need for when she’s born.

I bought some white grape juice, and I’ve been feeling even more energetic and motivated to get sorted. I feel healthier now than I have done all pregnancy. I really think that being a bit anaemic was affecting me more than I realised.

I’ve seen my midwife this week and baby is still in the same position and her size is average as far as they can tell. Her head is not engaged yet. Although i'm 34 weeks pregnant I still weigh 12 stone.

I’ve been feeling like my appetite is smaller because baby is pushing up on my stomach. I get full really quickly, but that’s not such a bad thing, because I was eating loads before.

My blood vessels are getting increasingly visible and I often get a red face and hot flushes. I’m still getting water retention and quite puffy looking legs, but nothing out of the ordinary.
